



Tasmania is the only place in Australia that doesn’t have any public transport passenger trains… however, there’s plenty of fascinating heritage trains in the Apple Isle to experience! Our tour starts in Hobart, before exploring the Georgian village of Richmond, cruising the crystal-clear waters of Wineglass Bay in the Freycinet National Park and wandering the pretty St Marys. Drive past dazzling white beaches to the Bay of Fires, enjoy a historic tram ride in Launceston, sample some fine food and wine in the Tamar Valley and cruise the Cataract Gorge. Moving on, you’ll explore the Saturday Harvest Markets in ‘Lonnie’, ride the heritage Don River Railway and spend a day at the Sheffield Steamfest. Later, visit the Table Cape Tulip Farm, see The Nut and Cradle Mountain, meet Tasmanian devils before riding the narrow-gauge Wee Georgie Wood Steam Railway. In Strahan, you’ll enjoy a steam train journey on the West Coast Wilderness Railway, cruise the Gordon River, and finish the tour in Hobart where you’ll poke around the Glenorchy Transport Museum, ride a heritage train, before experiencing the weekly Salamanca Market. Arrive in Hobart and settle into your hotel. Enjoy
some free time before meeting at the hotel’s
reception at 6pm before transferring for a
welcome dinner at a local restaurant. Hobart is
Tasmania’s lively capital that retains an old town
salty-air feel and is a delight to explore.

Day 2 Tuesday 3 March 2026
Richmond – Freycinet National Park
This morning, you’ll visit the charming historic
town of Richmond to learn about its fascinating
convict history and to see their lovely Georgian
architecture and restored sandstone heritage
buildings dating back to the early 1820s. Pause for
lunch, before continuing along the scenic Great
Eastern Drive to Swansea - one of Tasmania’s
oldest towns. With its impressive colonial
buildings, the town overlooks Great Oyster Bay,
offering stunning sea views. Continue to the
coastal town of Bicheno, your base for the next
two nights to explore the Freycinet National Park.

Day 3 Wednesday 4 March 2026
Freycinet National Park
After breakfast, travel to the gorgeous Freycinet
National Park, a real slice of heaven and home
to a wild outcrop of pristine white-sand beaches,
pink granite cliffs, and picturesque bays. Take
part in a half day cruise of the waterways and
unwind at the iconic Crescent Beach at Wineglass
Bay, which was voted one of the world’s top 10
beaches. Enjoy lunch and continue cruising to spot
penguins, dolphins, seals, albatross and whales.
This evening, there’s an optional tour to see the
regions Little Penguins as they return nightly to
their rookeries to feed their younglings.

Day 4 Thursday 5 March 2026
Bay of Fires – Launceston
This morning, we continue past pretty seaside
villages, beautiful bays and dramatic headlands to
the heritage hinterland town of St Marys. Spend
some time exploring the town, and drive past
green rolling hills dotted with apple orchards,
wineries, dairy, sheep and cattle farms to the Bay
of Fires, a scenic bay which is home to sandy
beaches, turquoise waters and orange coloured
granite rocks. Enjoy a guided workshop tour and
a tram ride at the Launceston Tramway Museum
and enjoy fine food and wine while dining in the
renowned Tamar Valley wine region.

Day 5 Friday 6 March 2026
Cataract Gorge Cruise – Launceston
This morning, we tour Woolmers Estate, one of the
most intact pioneer farm complexes in Australia.
Wander the grounds, including their impressive
Rose Garden before enjoying Devonshire tea
and scones served with homemade strawberry,
Rhubarb and Rose jam plus fresh cream and
berries. Return to ‘Lonnie’ for free time at lunch,
explore the colonial buildings around the historic
Inveresk Precinct and tour the Queen Victoria
Museum and Art Gallery. Later, take a late
afternoon cruise exploring the striking Cataract
Gorge. Free evening.

Day 6 Saturday 7 March 2026 Don River Railway – Devonport
This morning, you’ll wander the award-winning Harvest and Farmers’ Markets. Held each Saturday in Launceston, you will see stalls brimming with the freshest produce, artisan bread, pastry and dairy. Moving on, you’ll visit the Australian Axeman’s Hall of Fame in Latrobe which portrays the history and achievements of Australia’s renowned woodchoppers and ride on the vintage Don River Railway along the historic Melrose Line, taking in views of the township of Don. On our return, we’ll visit the rail museum and workshop to see heritage locos and carriages on display and travel to Devonport.

Day 7 Sunday 8 March 2026 Sheffield Steamfest – Devonport
This morning, you’ll spend the day at Sheffield Steamfest, Tasmania’s premier country event and the largest working demonstration of steam machines in the state. Enjoy a steam train ride, see the RSL Pipes and Drum band, some whip cracking and the tractor pull. During the day, you’ll tour the heritage town of Sheffield, known as Tasmania’s outdoor art gallery with over 160 murals that depict the stories of their history and their residents. Later, visit the House of Anvers Chocolatier to sample Belgian style chocolate, stop for a cuppa, wander their chocolate museum and return to Devonport.

Day 8 Monday 9 March 2026 Stanley – Cradle Mountain
Departing early, you’ll drive along the scenic Cradle Coast and visit Penguin, a picturesque seaside town home to the iconic Big Penguin statue! Wander the Table Cape Tulip Farm, where you’ll immerse yourself in a garden bursting with colour and travel to Stanley to see the Highfield Historic Site and homestead and the famous landmark The Nut – an ancient volcanic plug that juts out into the Bass Strait. Travel through the Tarkine Rainforest, pause at the Hellyer Gorge and arrive at Cradle Mountain in the late afternoon. Tonight, we’ll have dinner together at a local restaurant. Day 9 Tuesday 10 March 2026 Cradle Mountain – Wee Georgie Wood Steam Railway – Zeehan – Strahan
This morning, you will visit the iconic Cradle Mountain which is surrounded by native beech, rainforest, alpine heath lands and button grass. Spend some time at Devils @ Cradle – a unique Tasmanian devil conservation sanctuary aimed at protecting these endangered creatures. Later, ride on a century old steam locomotive on the Wee Georgie Wood Steam Railway through temperate rain forests and via the historic town of Tullah. Visit the West Coast Heritage Centre in Zeehan, which offers a unique insight to the history of the West Coast of Tasmania and arrive in Strahan. Overnight: Strahan Village, Strahan (B)
Day 10 Wednesday 11 March 2026 Gordon River Cruise – Strahan
Today, you will spend six hours cruising down the iconic Gordon River in The Franklin Gordon Wild Rivers National Park for an experience like no other, and a ‘must do’ when visiting Tasmania. Take in the tranquil surrounds of the Gordon River as you glide across the water listening to your guides take you through the history of this remarkable place. Cruise past Macquarie Harbour, Hells Gates, Heritage Landing and Sarah Island, one of Australia’s harshest penal settlements. Return to Strahan where you will tour the town before a free late afternoon and evening.

Day 11 Thursday 12 March 2026 West Coast Wilderness Railway – Strahan
Today you will travel to the historic mining town of Queenstown to ride the West Coast Wilderness Railway, a heritage train that travels through remote rainforests and wilderness areas of western Tasmania. Travel in first class premium balcony carriages on your steam train journey, stopping at Lynchford and Rinadeena Stations, before returning to Queenstown where you can have lunch and wander the old town to learn about how it was one of the richest mining towns in the world. Day 12 Friday 13 March 2026 Hobart
Departing early, you’ll see Lake St Clair, Australia’s deepest freshwater lake and stop at The Wall in the Wilderness, an impressive art installation located at Derwent Bridge. Upon arrival in Hobart, you’ll tour the Tasmania Transport Museum in Glenorchy to see their extensive collection of vintage trains, vehicles and memorabilia and while here, enjoy one last heritage train ride. Later, venture to the top of Mount Wellington for spectacular views of Hobart and the surrounding area, check into your hotel and enjoy a farewell dinner together.

Day 13 Saturday 14 March 2026 Salamanca Market – Hobart
Salamanca Market is one of Australia’s most vibrant and loved outdoor markets and Tasmania’s most visited tourism attraction. It runs each Saturday from 8.30AM, and we can’t have you leave Tassie without a visit! Enjoy breakfast at the hotel, check out and leave bags in storage. Walk the short distance to the markets for a wander, and to see the historic Salamanca Place and the waterfront precinct before returning to the hotel. Touring can involve a considerable amount of walking and stair climbing in the places visited and it is important that all tour participants have a level of physical fitness that allows them to take part in this activity without the need of assistance from others.

Tour Costs: The tours costs are based on transport, accommodation costs and entrance costs at 18 March 2025. Travelrite reserves the right to alter the costs if any of these factors change, giving any pass-enger that has booked the right to withdraw with full refund of monies paid or modify arrangements. No alterations to costings will be made within 60 days of departure.
Deposit and Payment: A non-refundable deposit of $900 per passenger is required at the time of booking. Full payment will be required 60 days before departure. A 1.5% administration charge will be added to payment by Visa, Mastercard and America Express.
Cancellation: Cancellations within 60 days prior to departure will result in the loss of all monies paid. Cancellations outside of 60 days prior to departure will result in the loss of the deposit paid per person. Travel insurance is recommended to cover the costs of cancellation fees due to illness, death in family, etc.
Changes To The Tour Itinerary: Travelrite International reserves the right to make changes to the tour itinerary to it in with operational requirements. Any changes to the itinerary will be replaced with similar arrangements with an equal or greater value.
Minimum Tour Numbers: The tour has been costed on the basis of a minimum number of passengers having booked 60 days prior to departure. Travelrite reserves the right to cancel the tour, giving a full refund of all monies paid or offer arrangements to proceed with the tour at a modified cost if the minimum number is not achieved.
Tour Organisation: Travelrite reserves the right to change advertised entrances if necessary for the smooth operation of the tour.
Refunds:
The tour is based on arrangements which do not allow for
any refunds in respect to sightseeing, accommodation, meals or other
services not utilised after the tour has commenced.
Baggage: All passengers qualify for 1 piece free baggage allowance.

Children under 5 years of age are ineligible on coach & cruise tours. Children under 18 years of age must be accompanied by an adult. Passengers with disabilities are welcome on Travelrite & Cruise Offers tours provided they are accompanied by a companion capable of providing all necessary assistance, and do not require special assistance from Travelrite & Cruise Offers personnel. Travelrite and Cruise Offers reserves the right to refuse to carry anyone if it is felt the individual cannot cope with the requirements of coach & cruise tour travel and who may require services and facilities that Travelrite & Cruise Offers cannot guarantee will be available. You agree to not hold the Travelrite & Cruise Offers responsible for any decision made by any of them or any service provider to refuse to carry you, provide any facilities or accommodation to you or to provide any service to you.
Responsibility: Travelrite International Pty Ltd. is the tour organiser. Travelrite International acts only as agents in making of arrangements with carriers, hoteliers and others for the tour. As a result, we cannot accept liability for any act or omission whatsoever, whether negligent or otherwise of those carriers, hoteliers or other persons providing services in connection with the tour over whom we have no direct or exclusive control. We do not accept responsibility for any injury, damage, loss, delay, change of schedule or any other events which are beyond our direct control, such as, but not limited to, war, flood, fire, civil disturbance, acts of God, acts of government, or any other authorities, terrorism, accidents to or failure of machinery or equipment, or industrial action. The passage contract in use by the carriers concerned, when issued, shall constitute the sole contract between the transportation companies or firms and the purchasers of these tours and the passengers. Baggage is at own risk throughout the tour. The contract shall be construed in accordance with the laws of the State of Victoria and any legal action must be undertaken in the State of Victoria.

You engage Travelrite International
to book this tour on your behalf and you acknowledge that Travelrite
International acts as your agent for the purpose of making contracts
between you and the various providers of accommodation, transportation
and other services that comprise the tour. Travelrite International
may without reference to you provide or make available to you, or may
as your agent engage any third party to provide or make available to you,
any good or service which Travelrite International reasonably believes is
necessary for your benefit to maintain the tour itinerary, repatriate you
or otherwise accommodate, transport or sustain you in circumstances in
which the tour itinerary fails wholly or partly for any reason. You appoint
Travelrite International your attorney for this purpose. You agree to pay Travelrite International any cost thereof and you indemnify Travelrite
International in respect of any cost it incurs in this regard. Travelrite
International advises you to obtain travel insurance generally including
in respect of the risk that any such good or service may become required.
