The rock of the Acropolis, crowned by the dramatic ruins of the Parthenon, dominates almost every view of Athens. Surrounded by pedestrianized streets, it can be appreciated from almost every angle. The Parthenon is the highlight, though, the first and greatest project of Pericles’ Athenian Golden Age.
