Named for the Maas River in the Netherlands, MS Maasdam is the fifth ship in Holland America Line's 140-year history to bear the name. Featuring an interior motif that pays homage to the historical Dutch East and West India companies of the 17th through 19th centuries, the centre piece of this elegant ship features Luciano Vistosi's "Totem," a monumental sculpture using nearly 2,000 glimmering pieces of glass, prominently displayed in a soaring three-story atrium. Clothing on board MS Maasdam

You will need the following types of clothing on board: casual shipboard attire or day wear, and evening wear. Casual nights on board may be sports shirt and slacks and equivalent for ladies. During the evening on formal nights a dinner suit or dark suit for gentlemen and eveningwear for ladies is recommended. There is usually two formal nights on the cruise. The self-service restaurants are casual.

Day 1 Friday 25 January, 2019 Depart Australia/Singapore
Today we board our flight to Singapore. Upon arrival we are transferred to our city hotel.

Day 2 Saturday 26 January, 2019 Embarkation
Today we have a comprehensive sightseeing tour of the modern city of Singapore. We will visit historic China Town and the beautiful Orchid Garden. This afternoon we board the MS Maasdam and settle into our state rooms. The ship overnights in Singapore.

Day 3 Sunday 27 January, 2019 Singapore
We will have free time this morning for last-minute sightseeing and shopping. Be up on deck as we depart Singapore for our voyage through the Indian Ocean.

Day 4 Monday 28 January, 2019 Malacca, Malaysia
The historical city of Malacca is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and the oldest Malaysian city in the Straits of Malacca. Today on our sight-seeing tour we will see the influences of the Portuguese, the Dutch and the British, who all colonised Malacca. Our tour will include a visit to the Melaka Sultanate Palace, a photo opportunity at the Porta de Santiago, visiting the Masjid Tranquerah and also the ruins of St. Paul’s Church.

Day 5 Tuesday 29 January, 2019 Penang, Malaysia
Today we will explore the bustle of Georgetown’s waterfront and the unspoiled countryside of Penang. On our sight-seeing tour today we ride the funicular train from Georgetown to the top of Penang Hill, the oldest British hill station in Southeast Asia built in 1770. We also visit a Butterfly Farm set in beautiful landscaped gardens featuring waterfalls, ponds and a rock tunnel, featuring over 100 species of live butterflies.

Day 6 Wednesday 30 January, 2019 Phuket, Thailand
Phuket, a rain forested, mountainous island in the Andaman Sea, has some of Thailand’s most popular beaches, mostly situated along the clear waters of the western shores and is home to many high-end seaside resorts. Today we will take a relaxing boat journey of Phang Nga Bay. Explore pristine beaches, islands, mangrove forests, lagoons and caves on this fantastic exploration of the bay. We will also see the famed ‘James Bond Island’ that was featured in the film the The Man with the Golden Gun.

Day 10 Sunday 3 February, 2019 Trincomalee, Sri Lanka
Trincomalee sits on one the world’s finest natural harbours. This historic city is old almost beyond reckoning: it’s possibly the site of historic Gokana in the Mahavamsa (Great Chronicle). Trincomalee’s superb deep-water port has made it a target. Since the British takeover in 1795, the city had changed colonial hands seven times. On our sight-seeing tour today we will visit Fort Fredrick, built in 1624 and visit the famous Koneswaram Temple. The temple is built atop ‘Swamy Rock’, a rocky promontory cape overlooking Trincomalee. We will also visit the World War II Cemetery and learn about the harbour that is so central to Trincomalee’s history.

Day 11 Monday 4 February, 2019 Hambamtota, Sri Lanka
This morning we arrive at Hambantota, the main town in Hambantota District, Southern Province, Sri Lanka. Today we will experience a safari-tour through Yala National Park, the most visited and the second largest National Park in Sri Lanka. It is situated in Hambantota district of the Southern Province. It is best known for its leopard population and the rich bio diversity among wildlife lovers. Among many other animals the leopard is the most sought after at the Yala National Park. Elephants, sloth bears, wild water buffaloes, fishing cats, wild boars, crocodiles, and a number species of birds are among the many animals that we might see during our visit.

Day 12 Tuesday 5 February, 2019 At sea
A free day to enjoy the facilities of the ship. This afternoon we will have a session of Scattegories with prizes for the winners.

Day 13 Wednesday 6 February, 2019 Male, Maldives
Today we arrive in Male, the capital of the Maldives. With an area of less than six square kilometres and a population of about 150,000 citizens, Male is one of the world's smallest national capitals. On our tour today we will take a boat and cruise around some of the most spectacular islands in the Maldives. Enjoy the pristine beaches and abundant wildlife as we explore these unique islands.

Day 14 Thursday 7 February, 2019 Uligamu, Maldives
Uligamu is one of the spectacular islands in the Maldives. We will have a boat tour of the atoll for a chance to see the amazing wildlife that lives here. There will also be time to explore and enjoy the pristine beaches of the island.

Day 15 Friday 8 February, 2019 At sea
A day at sea to explore the facilities of the ship. This afternoon we will have a session of Bingo with prizes for the winners.

Day 16 Saturday 9 February, 2019 Colombo, Sri Lanka
Today we arrive in Colombo, the capital of Sri Lanka, which has a long history as a port on the ancient east-west trade routes, ruled successively by the Portuguese, Dutch and British. We travel out of Colombo to the famous Pinnewala Elephant Orphanage, an orphanage, nursery and captive breeding ground for wild Asian elephants. See these amazing creatures that are looked after by the orphanage at all ages.

Day 20 Wednesday 13 February, 2019 Langkawi, Malaysia
Langkawi is an archipelago of 99 islands in the Andaman Sea, 30 km away from the mainland coast of northwestern Malaysia. On our tour today we will have the opportunity to visit a working rubber plantation. We will see kampungs, villages with typical Malay houses built on stilts for protection from flooding. Later we will visit the tomb of one of Langkawi's most time-honoured legends, Princess Mahsuri. Found guilty by the village elders and sentenced to die by impalement, this is a story of love, jealousy, and justice gone awry.

Day 21 Thursday 14 February, 2019 Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia
Today we call in to Port Kelang, Malaysia. We have a tour of the city of Kuala Lumpur, which is now a very modern city. We will see the famous Petronas Towers, once the highest buildings in the world, the historic colonial areas and the beautiful Lake Gardens with its Botanical and Bird Parks.

Day 22 Friday 15 February, 2019 Singapore
Today we arrive back in Singapore. After disembarking there will be time for shopping and sightseeing. Later in the afternoon we are transferred to Changi Airport for our return flight to Australia.

Tour members arrive back in Australia. The tour concludes.

TERMS AND CONDITIONS

International touring can involve a considerable amount of walking and stair climbing in the places visited and it is important that all tour participants have a level of physical fitness that allows them to take part in this activity without the need of assistance from others.

TOUR OPERATOR:
Travelrite International Pty Ltd (ABN 64 005 817 078) is the tour organiser MS Maasdam is operated by Holland America Line Cruises and the MS Maasdam fly/cruise arrangements are subject to the terms and conditions and general information detailed in the Holland America Line 2019 brochure. All passengers must complete the Holland America Line on line check in and complete a Travelrite International booking form.

DEPOSIT AND PAYMENT:
A deposit of $900 per passenger should be sent with a completed Travelrite International booking form that lists your requested cabin category. As soon as the booking is confirmed, (usually within 24 hours), a cruise confirmation advice will be posted to the client. The confirmation advice will contain all details. The passenger must also complete the Holland America Line on line check in. Final payments are due to be paid to Travelrite International 90 days prior to the commencement of the MS Maasdam fly/cruise. A 1.5% administration fee will be added to payments by Visa or MasterCard and 3 % for payment by AMEX or Diners Club cards.

REFUNDS:
The cruise is based on arrangements which do not allow for any refunds in respect to sightseeing, accommodation, meals or other services not utilised after the tour has commenced.

TRAVEL DOCUMENTS:
All passengers will require a valid passport. If not an Australian passport holder check with Travelrite International for visa requirements.

TRAVEL INSURANCE:
Adequate travel insurance is highly recommended to cover cruise members for the consequences of unforeseen events during the cruise and for cancellation fees which could result from events such as illness, accident, death etc.

BAGGAGE:
Passengers qualify for a 30kg free baggage allowance on flights to join or return from the cruise.

MINIMUM TOUR NUMBERS:
The fly/cruise arrangements have been made on the basis of a minimum number of passengers travelling. In the event that less than the required number of passengers have confirmed their booking 90 days from the date of departure, Travelrite International reserves the right to cancel the tour, giving a full refund of monies paid, or offer arrangements to proceed with the tour at a modified fare.

TOUR PARTICIPATION:
Children under 5 years of age are ineligible on coach & cruise tours. Children under 18 years of age must be accompanied by an adult. Passengers with disabilities are welcome on Travelrite & Cruise Offers tours provided they are accompanied by a companion capable of providing all necessary assistance, and do not require special assistance from Travelrite & Cruise Offers personnel. Travelrite and Cruise Offers reserves the right to refuse to carry anyone if it is felt the individual cannot cope with the requirements of coach & cruise tour travel and who may require services and facilities that Travelrite & Cruise Offers cannot guarantee will be available. You agree to not hold the Travelrite & Cruise Offers responsible for any decision made by any of them or any service provider to refuse to carry you, provide any facilities or accommodation to you or to provide any service to you.

Travelrite International Pty Ltd, its agents, officers, affiliates, and/or suppliers of services pursuant to, or in connection with these fly/cruises, shall act only as agents in making arrangements for hotels, transportation, including transportation by ship, restaurants, or any other service and do not assume any liability whatsoever for any injury, damage, death, loss, accident or delay to person or property due to an act of negligence or a default of any hotel, carrier restaurant company or person rendering any services included in fly/cruises, or by act of God. Further, no responsibilities are accepted for any damage or delay due to sickness, pilferage, labour disputes, machinery break-down, quarantine, government restraints, weather, terrorism or other causes beyond their control. No responsibility is accepted for any additional expense, omission, delays, re-routing or acts of any government authority. Baggage is at owners’ risk throughout the fly/cruise. The passage contract between the carriers concerned, when issued, shall constitute the sole contract between the carriers and the purchasers of this fly/ cruise and/ or the passengers.
