Day 1 Monday May 13, 2019 Departure
We depart Australia today on our flight to Milan.
Day 2 Tuesday May 14, 2019 Brescia
On arrival, we travel to the city of Brescia for the famed Mille Miglia, a recreation of the 1000 mile race that ran between 1927 and 1961. Known as “the most beautiful race in the world”, it was perhaps the most prestigious endurance race in Italy. We first visit the Mille Miglia Museum before continuing to Brescia and our hotel. When we arrive, cars will be going through technical checks before the start tomorrow.
Day 3 Wednesday May 15, 2019 Mille Miglia, Brescia
A day to enjoy the unique Italian atmosphere of the Mille Miglia. Explore the medieval squares of the city of Brescia, which will be full of automotive exotica. This morning, listen to the roar of engines as drivers take their cars to the old centre for registration and checking. Enjoy the atmosphere as the cars are displayed in the old squares of the city. See the pageantry as a selected number of cars are blessed in Piazza Paolo VI. This evening, watch and enjoy as the cars depart for the start of the 2019 Mille Miglia.
Day 4 Thursday May 16, 2019 Mulhouse
We depart Brescia this morning and travel north through the Alps into Switzerland. We then continue on to Mulhouse in eastern France.
Day 5 Friday May 17, 2019 Mulhouse
One of the highlights of the tour today will be a visit to the famous Schlumpf Collection of classic cars. This fabulous collection of 400 vintage cars, including some of the rarest Bugattis, was assembled by Fritz Schlumpf. The museum highlights over one hundred years of automobile history, from the “ancestors” (1895-1918) and “classic cars” (1918-38) to “modern” vehicles of the post-1945 period.
Day 6 Saturday May 18, 2019 Stuttgart
This morning we travel across the border into Germany and continue on to the prosperous city of Stuttgart, the home of both Mercedes Benz and Porsche. On arrival we visit the Mercedes Museum, which is located in a spectacular modern building.
Day 7 Sunday May 19, 2019 Stuttgart
This morning we will visit the Auto & Technik Museum in Sinsheim. It contains more than 300 classic cars, 200 motorcycles, 40 racing cars, the largest permanent Formula-1 exhibition in Europe. We then visit the Dr Carl Benz museum dedicated to the inventor of the first automobile powered by internal combustion engine.
Day 8 Monday May 20, 2019 Stuttgart
This morning we visit the Porsche factory (subject to confirmation) and Porsche museum. We see how these amazing vehicles are manufactured! We then visit the Audi factory and see how their R8 sports cars are manufactured.
Day 9 Tuesday May 21, 2019 Nurburg
This morning we first travel to the town of Speyer where we visit the Auto and Technik museum Speyer. We then travel north to the town of Nurburg home of the famous Nurburgring. On arrival we visit the Nurburgring Museum.
Day 10 Wednesday May 22, 2019 Nurburgring
During one of the highlights of the tour we take a driving tour around the area on public roads in sports cars. The Nurburgring, nicknamed “The Green Hell” by Jackie Stewart, is widely considered to be one of the most demanding and difficult purpose-built racing circuits in the world. The home of the German Grand Prix until 1939 on the full circuit and until 1977 on the northern circuit. There will also be an optional chance to drive this amazing track (subject to track availability). A once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. We will also have an included dinner at Top Gear’s Sabine Schmidt’s family restaurant.
Day 11 Thursday May 23, 2019 Turin
We depart Nurburg today and travel into Italy and the city of Turin.
Day 12 Friday May 24, 2019 Turin
This morning, we visit the famed Alfa Romeo Museum, which has recently re-opened. It is an amazing collection of the renowned Italian brands’ cars. This afternoon, we visit the museum of the famed automotive design house, Pininfarina, known for the design of many classic vehicles from Ferraris to Alfas. The museum contains a fascinating collection of concept cars and those that made it through to production.
Day 13 Saturday May 25, 2019 Lake Como
Today, we visit first the very impressive National Automobile Museum of Italy. This collection has around 200 vehicles and includes the first Italian cars, Bernardi 1896 and 1899 Fiat, the Rolls Royce Silver Ghost 1914 and racing cars by Ferrari and Alfa Romeo. We then travel east to the town of Como. On arrival, enjoy the relaxing and beautiful surrounds of the town, located on the shore of Lake Como.
Day 14 Sunday May 26, 2019 Lake Como
This morning, we are transferred to the legendary Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este, at the beautiful Villa d’Este, right on the shore of spectacular Lake Como. Perhaps the most prestigious Concours d’Elegance in the world, this stunning event takes place over three days each year. The historic automobiles will be paraded and judging, including some categories by the public, will be conducted. Amazing vehicles of motoring history, often worth millions, from the most prestigious manufacturers, are shown. Modern concept cars are also displayed. There is often an occasion for the release of very special sports cars from manufacturers such as Aston Martin, Ferrari, Lamborghini and others. Enjoy this classic motoring event in the gorgeous surrounds of Lake Como.
Day 15 Monday May 27, 2019 Modena
Today, we travel south-east to the city of Modena, the centre of the exotic Italian motor industry. On arrival, we visit the Panini collection of Maserati cars. Founded by Umberto Panini, it is the finest collection of Maseratis’ in the world. We are then transferred to our hotel.
Day 16 Tuesday May 28, 2019 Modena
This morning, we will first visit the Enzo Ferrari Museum, built around the home Enzo Ferrari grew up in. The museum details the great car manufacturer’s life amongst a classic collection of some of the cars he created. We then travel to Maranello where the Ferrari factory is located and visit the Ferrari Museum and take a bus tour through the factory grounds. The ground floor of the museum is dedicated to Formula One; upstairs are the Ferrari road cars, where pride of place goes to The Enzo, the car dedicated to its founder. We have an included lunch today at Ristorante Cavallino, the famous restaurant across the road from the factory where Enzo Ferrari used to dine.
Day 17 Wednesday May 29, 2019 Modena
This morning, we travel to the home of Lamborghini, in the town of Sant’Agata Bolognese, south of Bologna. We have a tour of the factory where these amazing supercars are manufactured. We will see the assembly line of the Gallardo LP 560- 4 and follow, step-by-step, the making of a car: from the bodyshell to the interior and the mounting of Lamborghini’s V10 engine. We will then visit the acclaimed Lamborghini Museum, which has an example of almost every vehicle manufactured by the company.
Day 18 Friday May 29, 2019 Modena
We then travel to the town of San Cesario sul Panaro, where the relatively new marque of Pagani is made, to visit the factory and find out how these amazing vehicles are manufactured. This evening join us for an included dinner to celebrate our automotive tour of Europe.
Day 19 Saturday May 30, 2019 Departure
This morning, we travel to Milan Malpensa Airport for our flights back to Australia
