This morning we arrive at Amsterdam airport. After clearing customs, we will be met by our private coach and transferred in to the city for our sightseeing tour. We will see the main sights, including the canals and the market square, before arriving at our hotel. Amsterdam is famous for many attractions, including the unique shopping areas such as the Nine Streets, the street markets, and the area near the museum quarter. Cafés are a popular past-time among tourists to Amsterdam, and there are many famous sites and museums to visit, including the Anne Frank House, the Van Gogh Museum, and the Verzetsmuseum. The remainder of the day is free for exploring the city independently. The tour manager will make recommendations for dinner for those wishing to dine together as a group.

The morning will be free. Early afternoon we will be transferred to the harbour to board the Celebrity Silhouette for our voyage to the British Isles. Be up on deck as the ship slips her moorings at 5pm for the start of our fabulous 12-night cruise. Join us for a drinks party to welcome the group to the ship, before dinner.

Today we arrive at Inverness, near the famous Loch Ness, the largest Scottish lake by volume; indeed experts say that it contains more fresh water than all the lakes of England and Wales combined. On our tour today, we first visit the Loch Ness Exhibition Centre in the pleasant village of Drumnadrochit. Next, we make the short journey to bonnie Glen Urquhart, famous for its native woodlands and the wide variety of wildlife that they support. Urquhart Castle is a magnificent building dating back to the 14th century; it was one in a chain of garrisons that controlled the Great Glen. Nowadays it’s a popular place with ‘Nessie spotters’, who scan the waters of the loch, deeper here than the North Sea. This evening join David and Margaret for a film session.

Today we visit Edinburgh, the royal and ancient capital of Scotland, one of the most beautiful cities in Europe. On our sightseeing tour we see the Royal Mile. With its cobbled streets, it forms the backbone of the medieval Old Town and leads from the Palace of Holyroodhouse (the Queen’s official residence in Scotland) all the way to Edinburgh Castle. We will enjoy a guided tour of the castle, which is home to the Scottish Crown Jewels and the historic Stone of Destiny. The views from the castle ramparts are simply stunning. This evening we will have a very special opportunity to attend the Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo. Held on the esplanade of Edinburgh Castle, it is one of many events held as part of the Edinburgh Festival. First staged in 1950, it combines the traditional sounds of the bagpipes and drums with modern aspects of the armed forces from around the world.

This morning we visit the royal yacht Britannia, which was used by the Queen for over 40 years. Explore this historic ship that sailed over 1 million miles around the world. The afternoon will be free to explore Edinburgh. This evening join David and Margaret for a film screening.

This morning we arrive in the port city of Liverpool, capital of Lancashire county. A city of culture, excitement and important maritime history, famous for its Mersey waterfront, Liverpool is known throughout the world for being the home of The Beatles, when the Mersey Beat was born. On our sightseeing tour we will see Matthew Street, site of the Cavern Club where The Beatles played. We will make our way down to the Mersey waterfront and take a ferry ride across the River Mersey, made famous by Jerry & the Pacemakers. This evening join David and Margaret in the Cinema for today’s film session.

Belfast, Northern Ireland
This morning we arrive at Belfast, the seat of Parliament (called Stormont) and capital of Northern Ireland. On our tour today, we will see City Hall, the Grand Opera House, Queens University, Albert Memorial Clock and make a brief stop at the Titanic Dry Dock. We then travel along part of the beautiful coastal road and take in the stunning views on our way to the Giant’s Causeway to view its remarkable rock formations. The lunar landscape of the Giant’s Causeway is a World Heritage site. The basalt columns packed tightly together have made the Giant’s Causeway the subject of numerous legends. This evening join David and Margaret in the Cinema for today’s film session.

Today we arrive in Dublin, the capital of the Republic of Ireland, well-known as being a place of friendliness and ‘craic’, the city is well over 1000 years old. We will have a sightseeing tour of the city, including visits to St. Patrick’s Cathedral and Trinity College, where we see the famous Book of Kells. We see the Ha’penny Bridge and the G.P.O. in O’Connell Street, St Stephen’s Green and Grafton Street. This evening join David and Margaret in the Cinema for today’s film session.

Cork, Irish Republic
Today we arrive in Cobh, port of the city of Cork. On our tour today we visit The Queenstown Story Visitor Centre, which explores Ireland’s emigration phenomenon, and the last port of call of the Titanic, before she was lost in the North Atlantic. Close by is Blarney Castle, where you can kiss the Blarney Stone to acquire the gift of eloquence. We return to Cork, where we have some time to explore before returning to the ship. This evening join David and Margaret in the Cinema for today’s film session.

This morning we arrive in Bruges, known as the Venice of the North and one of the most beautiful cities in Europe. Today we will have a tour of this UNESCO World Heritage-listed city, where we will see the world-famous Market Square, the Royal Residence, Royal Square, Houses of Parliament and Art Nouveau houses, glance at the remarkable City Hall and discover the secrets of Belgian chocolate. There will also be time to explore the maze of winding cobbled alleys and romantic canals. This evening join David and Margaret in the Cinema for our final film session.

This morning we will have a sightseeing tour of the major sights of Paris including the Arc de Triomphe, the Eiffel Tower, the Champs Elysees and the Louvre, and drive along the Seine. This evening we are transferred to the Eiffel Tower for dinner. Enjoy the spectacular views over the heart of Paris while enjoying your meal.

Today we travel into the French countryside, to the small village of Giverny. We visit the villa and famous gardens of the Impressionist painter, Claude Monet. We will see the lake with its water lilies, so beloved by Monet, and its little Japanese bridge. This evening we will attend the famous Moulin Rouge show with dinner included. This fantastic show is a stunning mix of glamour and traditional Parisian style.
