You will need the following types of clothing on board: casual shipboard attire or day wear, and evening wear. Margaret Pomeranz

Margaret Pomeranz AM co-hosted The Movie Show on SBS and At The Movies on ABC television with David Stratton for nearly three decades. She has a Bachelor of Arts from Macquarie University and was selected for the Playwright’s Studio at NIDA, after which she began writing for television, radio and film. She joined the newly established Special Broadcasting Service (SBS) in 1980 as writer/producer, which led to her being appointed producer for David Stratton’s movie hostings. Some years later, in 1986, the duo were able to get The Movie Show up and running. They moved to the ABC in 2004 to establish At The Movies. Margaret is currently presenting films on Foxtel and is the film critic on Stage and Screen.

David Stratton

David Stratton AM was the well-known co-presenter of At the Movies on ABC television. He is also a former director of the Sydney Film Festival, former film critic for international film industry magazine Variety, and is currently film critic for The Australian. A recipient of the Australian Film Institute’s Raymond Longford Award, David has also served as a former president of the International Critics Jury for the Cannes and Venice film festivals, authored two books and is now lecturing in Film History as part of the Continuing Education Program at the University of Sydney. He is the successful leader of four previous Film Festivals at Sea. David’s decades-long involvement with movies makes him the ideal person to lead this exciting cruise.

Amsterdam, Netherlands

This morning we arrive at Amsterdam airport. After clearing customs, we will be met by our private coach and transferred in to the city for our sightseeing tour. We will see the main sights, including the canals and the market square, before arriving at our hotel. Amsterdam is famous for many attractions, including the unique shopping areas such as the Nine Streets, the street markets, and the area near the museum quarter. Cafés are a popular past-time among tourists to Amsterdam, and there are many famous sites and museums to visit, including the Anne Frank House, the Van Gogh Museum, and the Verzetsmuseum. The remainder of the day is free for exploring the city independently. The tour manager will make recommendations for dinner for those wishing to dine together as a group.

The morning will be free. Early afternoon we will be transferred to the harbour to board the Celebrity Silhouette for our voyage to the British Isles. Be up on deck as the ship slips her moorings at 5pm for the start of our fabulous 12-night cruise. Join us for a drinks party to welcome the group to the ship, before dinner.

Inverness, Scotland

Today we arrive at Inverness, near the famous Loch Ness, the largest Scottish lake by volume; indeed experts say that it contains more fresh water than all the lakes of England and Wales combined. On our tour today, we first visit the Loch Ness Exhibition Centre in the pleasant village of Drumnadrochit. Next, we make the short journey to bonnie Glen Urquhart, famous for its native woodlands and the wide variety of wildlife that they support. Urquhart Castle is a magnificent building dating back to the 14th century; it was one in a chain of garrisons that controlled the Great Glen. Nowadays it’s a popular place with ‘Nessie spotters’, who scan the waters of the loch, deeper here than the North Sea. This evening join David and Margaret for a film session.

Edinburgh, Scotland

Today we visit Edinburgh, the royal and ancient capital of Scotland, one of the most beautiful cities in Europe. On our sightseeing tour we see the Royal Mile. With its cobbled streets, it forms the backbone of the medieval Old Town and leads from the Palace of Holyroodhouse (the Queen’s official residence in Scotland) all the way to Edinburgh Castle. We will enjoy a guided tour of the castle, which is home to the Scottish Crown Jewels and the historic Stone of Destiny. The views from the castle ramparts are simply stunning. This evening we will have a very special opportunity to attend the Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo. Held on the esplanade of Edinburgh Castle, it is one of many events held as part of the Edinburgh Festival. First staged in 1950, it combines the traditional sounds of the bagpipes and drums with modern aspects of the armed forces from around the world.

This morning we visit the royal yacht Britannia, which was used by the Queen for over 40 years. Explore this historic ship that sailed over 1 million miles around the world. The afternoon will be free to explore Edinburgh. This evening join David and Margaret for a film screening.

Liverpool, England

This morning we arrive in the port city of Liverpool, capital of Lancashire county. A city of culture, excitement and important maritime history, famous for its Mersey waterfront, Liverpool is known throughout the world for being the home of The Beatles, when the Mersey Beat was born. On our sightseeing tour we will see Matthew Street, site of the Cavern Club where The Beatles played. We will make our way down to the Mersey waterfront and take a ferry ride across the River Mersey, made famous by Jerry & the Pacemakers. This evening join David and Margaret in the Cinema for today’s film session.

Belfast, Northern Ireland

This morning we arrive at Belfast, the seat of Parliament (called Stormont) and capital of Northern Ireland. On our tour today, we will see City Hall, the Grand Opera House, Queens University, Albert Memorial Clock and make a brief stop at the Titanic Dry Dock. We then travel along part of the beautiful coastal road and take in the stunning views on our way to the Giant’s Causeway to view its remarkable rock formations. The lunar landscape of the Giant’s Causeway is a World Heritage site. The basalt columns packed tightly together have made the Giant’s Causeway the subject of numerous legends. This evening join David and Margaret in the Cinema for today’s film session.

Dublin, Ireland

Today we arrive in Dublin, the capital of the Republic of Ireland, well-known as being a place of friendliness and ‘craic’, the city is well over 1000 years old. We will have a sightseeing tour of the city, including visits to St. Patrick’s Cathedral and Trinity College, where we see the famous Book of Kells. We see the Ha’penny Bridge and the G.P.O. in O’Connell Street, St Stephen’s Green and Grafton Street. This evening join David and Margaret in the Cinema for today’s film session.

Cork, Irish Republic

Today we arrive in Cobh, port of the city of Cork. On our tour today we visit The Queenstown Story Visitor Centre, which explores Ireland’s emigration phenomenon, and the last port of call of the Titanic, before she was lost in the North Atlantic. Close by is Blarney Castle, where you can kiss the Blarney Stone to acquire the gift of eloquence. We return to Cork, where we have some time to explore before returning to the ship. This evening join David and Margaret in the Cinema for today’s film session.

Bruges, Belgium

This morning we arrive in Bruges, known as the Venice of the North and one of the most beautiful cities in Europe. Today we will have a tour of this UNESCO World Heritage-listed city, where we will see the world-famous Market Square, the Royal Residence, Royal Square, Houses of Parliament and Art Nouveau houses, glance at the remarkable City Hall and discover the secrets of Belgian chocolate. There will also be time to explore the maze of winding cobbled alleys and romantic canals. This evening join David and Margaret in the Cinema for our final film session.

This evening we are transferred to the Eiffel Tower for dinner. Enjoy the spectacular views over the heart of Paris while enjoying your meal.

Paris

Today we travel into the French countryside, to the small village of Giverny. We visit the villa and famous gardens of the Impressionist painter, Claude Monet. We will see the lake with its water lilies, so beloved by Monet, and its little Japanese bridge. This evening we will attend the famous Moulin Rouge show with dinner included. This fantastic show is a stunning mix of glamour and traditional Parisian style.

TERMS AND CONDITIONS

International touring can involve a considerable amount of walking and stair climbing in the places visited and it is important that all tour participants have a level of physical fitness that allows them to take part in this activity without the need of assistance from others.

Tour Operator

Travelrite International Pty Ltd (ABN 64 005 817 078) is the tour organiser. The Celebrity Silhouette is operated by Celebrity Cruises and the fly, cruise and tour arrangements are subject to the terms and conditions and general information detailed in the Celebrity Cruises brochure. All passengers must complete the Celebrity Cruises online check-in on as well as a Travelrite booking form.

Deposit and Payment

A deposit of $900 per passenger should be sent with a booking form that lists your requested cabin category. As soon as the booking is confirmed (usually within 24 hours) a cruise confirmation advice will be posted to the client. The confirmation advice will contain all details. Final payments are due to be paid to Travelrite International 90 days prior to the commencement of the fly, tour and cruise holiday

Refunds

The cruise is based on arrangements which do not allow for any refunds in respect to sightseeing, accommodation, meals or other services not utilised after the tour has commenced.

Travel Documents

All passengers will require a valid passport. A visa is required for Russia which can be organised by Travelrite International. If not an Australian passport holder check with Travelrite International for visa requirements.

Travel Insurance

Adequate travel insurance is highly recommended to cover cruise members for the consequences of unforeseen events during the cruise and for cancellation fees which could result from events such as illness, accident, death etc.

Baggage

Passengers qualify for a 30kg free baggage allowance on flights to join or return from the cruise.

Minimum Tour Numbers

The cruise arrangements have been made on the basis of a minimum number of passengers travelling. In the event that less than the required number of passengers have confirmed their booking 60 days from the date of departure, Travelrite International reserves the right to cancel the tour, giving a full refund of monies paid, or offer arrangements to proceed with the tour at a modified fare.

General

A 1.5% administration fee will be added to all payments made by Visa and Master Card. 3% administration charge will be added to payments by Amex and Diners Club cards. If fares and air taxes change due to government and airport regulations and currency fluctuations Travelrite reserves the right to charge additional amounts.

Neither Nationwide News Pty Limited nor any of its subsidiaries, nor any of its newspapers have any involvement in the tour, and have no liability of any kind to any person in relation to the tour. Travelrite International Pty Ltd, it’s agents, officers, affiliates, and/or suppliers of services pursuant to or in connection with these fly/cruise/stay holidays shall act only as agents in making arrangements for hotels, transportation including transportation by ship, restaurants, or any other service and do not assume any liability whatsoever for any injury, damage, death, loss, accident or delay to person or property due to an act of negligence or a default of any hotel, carrier restaurant company or person rendering any services included in fly/ cruises, or by act of God. Further no responsibilities are accepted for any damage or delay due to sickness, pilferage, labour disputes, machinery break-down, quarantine, government restraints, weather, terrorism or other causes beyond their control. No responsibility is accepted for any additional expense, omission, delays, re-routing or acts of any government authority. Baggage is at owners risk throughout the fly/cruise/stay holiday. The passage contract between the carriers concerned when issued shall constitute the sole contract between the carriers and the purchasers of these fly/cruise/stay holidays and/or the passengers. The right is reserved to withdraw any fly/cruise/stay holiday and/ or make such changes in the fly/cruise/stay holidays as may be found desirable or necessary for the convenience of the parties and the proper carrying out of the fly/cruises. This contract shall be construed in accordance of the laws of the State of Victoria, Australia and any action must be undertaken in the State of Victoria.
